The other 19 third-prize tickets win $10,000 each. Since the jackpot was last won in Tennessee on April 15, there have been more than 10.4 million winning tickets at all prize levels, including 16 worth $1 mill...

State Fire Marshal’s Office Urges Fireworks Safety Ahead of July 4th Holiday

Image
As Volunteer State residents prepare to celebrate the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (“SFMO”) urges Tennesseans to consider the risks to your personal safety, your property, and your finances that can arise from fireworks-related mishaps. Consumer fireworks pose a hazard to Tennesseans’ health and safety. Records show 175 total fires were started in 2021 by fireworks causing $1.23 million in direct property damage in Tennessee. Aside from causing injuries, fires or damage caused by fireworks in a Tennessee municipality that bans fireworks may not be covered by traditional homeowners or renters insurance policies which puts the financial burden of making repairs solely on the shoulders of consumers. “During the fun and festivities of this year's Fourth of July holiday, I remind Tennesseans to not risk starting a fire or injuring themselves thereby adding to the burdens of our hard-working emergency and medical personnel,” said Stat...
