In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, ordering food to-go became a very popular option and, for the first time in Tennessee, you could also order alcohol to-go. Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order in 2020 allowing for the sale of takeaway alcohol orders. This was during a time when restaurant capacity was limited and also to encourage more sales for restaurants. Then in 2021, that law was extended until July 1st, 2023. Stating, “ Effective immediately and continuing until July 1, 2023, certain on- premises license holders may make limited carryout sales of alcoholic beverages, which would otherwise be considered a sale of alcohol for “off-premises consumption” and not allowed under their license.” Other stipulations for carry out included the purchase of food, beverages had to be packaged in a bottle or can with a secure cap or in a container that is secured by tape which secures the lid, covers any openings in the lid, and which would show that it has been opene...

Bobby Smith Reynolds, age 82 of Dickson, TN, passed away on June 28, 2023, at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. He was born on December 20, 1940, in Stewart County to the late Ira Alfred Reynolds and Mary Cottell Redfern. He retired from Tennsco after many years as a mechanic. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: Steven H. Redfern. Survivors include his sons: Ronnie S. Redfern, Randy D. Redfern, and Ricky Redfern, all of Dickson; his brothers: Jack C. Reynolds, of Camden, and Clifford Reynolds, of Dickson; and his grandson: Jacob. Bobby's wishes were for cremation. Funeral services for Edwin Dewey “Ed” Hutchison, age 82 of Dickson, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023 from the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Hutchison Cemetery in Pegram. Visitation with the family will also be Saturday from noon until time of service. Born in Pegram, Ed was the son of the late Silas Hooper Hutchison and Elizabeth Ann O’Brien Hutchison. He was a truck driver for Eubank Paving Co. Ed’s greatest love was family and friends. He loved the outdoors – fishing, hunting, outdoor cooking for the family—even at his death, he had just put his boat in the water for a morning of fishing. He also enjoyed music and dancing, horses, and vegetable gardening. And he always kept his vehicles clean and mechanically sound! The Tennessee State Veterinarian is advising horse owners of cases of Equine Herpes Virus One (EHV-1) in a neighboring state. Last week, two horses at a horse show in Lexington, Virginia tested positive for EHV-1. EHV in all forms is highly infectious and found worldwide. EHV-1 can cause upper respiratory disease, neurological disease, abortions, and neonatal death. “For the general horse population, there isn’t cause for alarm, but I urge owners to be aware of practices that help keep horses healthy,” State Veterinarian Dr. Samantha Beaty said. “Consult with your veterinarian to determine appropriate vaccines for your herd. If a horse has been exposed to EHV, such as in the same area in a barn or in a show ring together, I strongly advise quarantining for a minimum of 14 days and up to 30 days in cases of direct contact. The dashboards and maps display data on public schools, public school districts, private schools, church-related schools, and home schools for the 2021-2022 school year. The data for public and non-public schools can be viewed  here . For public schools and school districts, users can view data on teacher salaries, student enrollment, educational attainment, school building quality, and state and local funding. For non-public schools, users can find information about school accreditation, the total number of students and teachers, and more. Data from past school years is also included, allowing users to see trends over time. In addition to an already exciting week of festivities, faces from around the hockey community gathered at Ford Ice Center Bellevue to announce the institution of a new NHL-backed diversity initiative. The facility played host on Tuesday morning as 12 pro hockey players, including Ryan Reaves, Sarah Nurse and Abby Roque; NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman; and NHLPA Executive Director Marty Walsh announced the formal inception of the Player Inclusion Coalition. Established with the intention of making hockey a more inclusive and accessible sport for all, the PIC consists of more than 20 members who share varying perspectives as players of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and supportive allies.
