Brentwood High School was buzzing in anticipation for what would end up being a war between two of the major schools in the city. The highly touted Brentwood Academy Eagles came into Brentwood High coming off a tough loss while the Bruins were riding high afer a big win and were looking to show everyone they are just as good as BA. The Bruins looked to establish the run early, coming out on offense and hitting the Eagles with 5 powerful runs. However a dropped pass on 3rd down caused the Bruins to have to punt the ball to the 2nd ranked QB in 2025, George MacIntyre, who immediately hit a receiver deep down the sideline with a beautiful pass on his first attempt. A former jeweler of American Jewelry in Brentwood and Mt. Juliet was sentenced to 10 years in prison after his role in a $1 million jewelry in Bowling Green, Kentucky, according to WKRN . In July of 2020, officials say three armed individuals entered a residence belonging to the late former Western Kentucky University provost, Barbara Burch, on Smallhouse Road in Bowling Green. Investigators say the intruders assaulted an employee, who was working in the home office then stole a safe containing an estimated 300 to 400 pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $1 million. According to investigators, three people out of Mount Juliet played a role in executing the plan to take the safe and break into it and the owner of American Jewelry, Marshall “Sonny” Belew, was also involved. Investigators say a cell phone registered in Belew’s name sent text messages to the co-conspirators. Belew was arrested months later in March 2021. Metro Police led a relentless investigation on June 21 following an attempted stranger rape of a 72-year-old woman who lives in the Cumberland Gardens neighborhood in the area of 28th Avenue North and Ed Temple Boulevard. The investigation has led to the arrest of the suspected attacker. Jimmy F. Avery, 61, is being charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of attempted rape. Avery was apprehended at 4:50 p.m. after North Precinct Officers Rachel Susee and Dawn Thornsberry spotted him in an apartment complex parking lot not far from the victim’s home attempting to burglarize a vehicle. The officers noted that Avery very closely matched the description given by the attempted rape victim. He was turned over to detectives from the Special Victims Division. The victim in this case told detectives that she was lying in bed watching television at 4 a.m. this morning when she suddenly saw a strange man standing in her room. On June 12, Brentwood Police arrested Antonio Peebles, 30, and charged him with robbing two banks within the City of Brentwood. Peebles confessed to both robberies, and he’s being held in Williamson County Jail on a $50,000 bond. On May 24, a man matching Peebles’ description entered the Pinnacle Bank on Franklin Road, handed the teller a bag, and demanded money. He then left the area on foot, heading toward the railroad tracks. A few weeks later, on June 12, the same individual walked into the Wilson Bank and Trust on Harpeth Drive and demanded money in a similar fashion. The suspect also left the bank on foot, heading toward Old Hickory Boulevard. Brentwood Police responded to both incidents. Country music Jimmie Allen has listed his Brentwood home, reports Fox 17.  The original price for the home was set at $3 million but has since been dropped to $2.5 million. Brentwood resident and Ravenwood High School Junior, Ava Claire Henson, earned a trip to Hollywood by winning over the American Idol Judges, who unanimously gave her a Golden Ticket. Ava Claire has been charming audiences all over Nashville since age 11, with her mix of soulful indie/American original music. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has released its official report on the May 2021 small jet crash in La Vergne, TN that killed seven individuals, many were leaders of Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood. At 10:53 a.m. on May 29, a 1982 CESSNA 501 departed Smyrna Airport heading toward Palm Beach International. Shortly after take-off, the small jet crashed into Percy Priest Lake. All passengers and the pilot died in the crash. On board were William J. Lara, Gwen S. Lara, Jennifer J. Martin, David L. Martin, Jessica Walters, Jonathan Walters, and Brandon Hannah all of Brentwood, Tennessee. Many of those aboard the plane were leaders at Remnant Fellowship Church in Brentwood, including Gwen Shamblin Lara, the founder of the Remnant Fellowship Church and Christian diet program the Weight Down Workshop. From Brentwood Police Brentwood, Tenn. -- On Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 2:01 p.m., Brentwood Police Officers were dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Jones Parkway near the intersection of Brentmeade Boulevard. The vehicle’s occupants, a 19-year-old male and a 14-year-old male, were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims are Brentwood residents and the appropriate high school has been notified. A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling north on Jones Parkway. The vehicle left the roadway near Brentmeade Boulevard where it struck a tree and caught fire. The Brentwood Fire and Rescue Department extinguished the fire but both occupants of the vehicle were deceased. The 19-year-old driver has been identified as Joshua Chin-Curlee of Brentwood. The accident remains under investigation by the Brentwood Police Department Directed Enforcement Team.
